IWI US, Inc., a subsidiary of Israel Weapon Industries (IWI) Ltd., partnered with Ammoland Shooting Sports News to give away a $2,000 TAVOR® SAR Flattop model. Jeff Jones of San Antonio, Texas, a veteran, as well as a subscriber of, was the winner.

“I’ve had experience with bullpup rifles while in the military and look forward to shooting the TAVOR®. The Israelis are well-known for developing, as well as improving, current weapons and weapons systems. The TAVOR® combines rifle ballistics and accuracy with the handling of an SBR. The truth is, I’m just really excited to go out and shoot it and I’d like to thank IWI for the opportunity to own this fine rifle,” said Jones.

Jones is a veteran of Desert Shield and Desert Storm and served in the USAF Security Forces for over 20 years before retiring from the military. He now works as a firearms instructor for the U.S. Naval Security Forces, as well as an anti-terrorism and force protection instructor.

“We’re happy for Jeff. I’m glad the TAVOR® is going to him; he’s served our country, protected our freedom and I know he’ll truly appreciate this great gun. We couldn’t think of a more deserving winner,” Michael Kassnar, vice president of sales and marketing at IWI US said.

The IWI US TAVOR® SAR that Jones won was the American Rifleman’s Golden Bullseye Rifle of the Year for 2014. It fires 5.56 NATO, has an 18” barrel, features a full-length MIL-STD Picatinny top rail with a MIL-STD short rail mounted at a 45° angle opposite the charging handle for rail-mounted optics and accessories and is dressed for battle in the flat dark earth color option.

“Our subscribers are what makes a great gathering place for the firearm community. We owe them so much and we really thought hard about how we could give back. There isn’t a finer gun than the TAVOR® and what better way to give back than by giving Jeff, a loyal subscriber, the American Rifleman gun of the year,” said Fredy Riehl, editor of
