National Tactical Officers Association (NTOA) Releases the Fall Edition of The Tactical Edge

Doylestown, Pa. (November 2017) – The National Tactical Officers Association (NTOA) is pleased to announce the fall edition of The Tactical Edge is now available. Widely considered to be the leading authority in tactical operations information, The Tactical Edge reaches more than 40,000 law enforcement officers throughout the United States, Canada and around the world.

Members-only features include “Prototypical Incident Response: The Importance of Situational Awareness” by Bruce Liebe and “Unraveling the Knot: Common Mistakes During Large-Scale Critical Incidents and How to Overcome Them” by Travis Norton. Also featured is “Do Ballistic Vests Save K9 Lives?” by Brad Smith, Lane Critser and Lee Palmer and “The Coppermine Incident: Negotiating with a Barricaded Active Shooter” by Ryan Beerling. The entire issue is available online to law enforcement officers who become a member of the NTOA.

The NTOA has also made several articles available online to nonmembers, including “How Trauma Can Impact Police and Public Safety Professionals” by Robert J. Cipriano Jr. In this article, Cipriano discusses how public safety professionals’ view of their world and sense of safety and security can change when they are exposed to an abundance of negative situations, and how having a mental health professional in-house or as a consultant is invaluable. Also featured is “Yoga: A New Skill Set for Combat Performance,” written by Kris Mienert and Olivia Kvitne, who discuss how yoga can increase one’s tactical ability and resiliency to high levels of stress.

Other items of interest include coverage of our 2017 conferences in Phoenix, Arizona, an interview with new NTOA Executive Director Thor Eells, and a profile of NTOA Command College student, Chief Juan Gonzalez of San Juan (TX) PD.

The Tactical Edge has been providing the law enforcement community with cutting edge, lifesaving information from leading experts for more than 30 years and is the winner of multiple awards, including the 2006 American In-House Design Award from Graphic Design USA and the 2013 APEX Award for Publication Excellence from Communications Concepts. It is published quarterly in February, May, August and November.
