Social Media Reload

Every week, millions of links, photos and videos are shared on social media from brands and individuals alike. The latest blog series from Laura Burgess Marketing, the Social Media Reload, features the most popular, interesting, entertaining and controversial content in the industry from the past week and repackages it into a quick list with fire power.

Below are three of the top links, photos and videos posted on social media this week.

GLOCK Torture

GLOCK: USED AND ABUSED

Have you ever wondered if a GLOCK would fire if it were baked in a cake, wrapped in rubber bands or deep fried? YouTuber MattV2099, who recently received his Silver Play Button award from YouTube for surpassing 100,000 subscribers, has been torture testing (or “function testing” as he puts it) his GLOCK pistols for the past two years and has done all of the above. Seemingly everything from food to household items have been tested, and while they often, literally, result in sticky situations, few to none have proved enough to stop a GLOCK from firing. His most recent video tested a plastic wrapped GLOCK, but Outdoor Hub was kind enough to put a list together of 20 of his most outrageous torture tests. You’re welcome. (via Outdoor Hub)

Tank K9

 THE POWER OF SOCIAL MEDIA

Known for memes, trolling and trending topics, it’s easy to forget the good that social media can bring. Earlier this week, a Facebook Page titled ‘Vesting America’s Police K-9’sposted a photo of Tank, a K9 in training with the Washington City, UT police department, with a challenge. If the adorable photo of Tank was gained one million likes by the time he finished training next year, TREAD Armament and Weaponry (who operates the Page) would donate a bullet and stab proof vest for him for free. Posted on Tuesday, June 2, the photo quickly surpassed its goal in just 48 hours, garnering more than 1.1 million likes, 200,000 shares and 5,000 comments in support from the law enforcement community and general public. The company also started a gofundme campaign for those interested in donating to the cause and supplying other K9s with similar vest, raising $4,300 as of today.

Lego AR Stock

BUILD YOUR OWN AR-15 STOCK

We’ve seen creative Lego firearms before, but Feinstein Gewehr Werke, LLC, a Dallas-based plastic brick kit manufacturer, has taken that idea to the next level with an AR compatible gun stock. Inspired by the Feinstein Project, “a crowd-sourcing project to design a working AR semi-automatic lower receiver out of small ABS plastic building blocks,” the company’s first product is a MK 8 rifle stock, complete with a 21-page instruction manual, for $40. However, that price tag does not include the glue, reinforcing metal threaded rods, epoxy and tools needed to build the stock. According to the company website, the MK8 stock requires a mil-spec size buffer tube and has been tested to withstand the recoil from 12-gauge 3″ 00 buck rounds. So One thing is for sure, this isn’t your childhood Lego set. (via Outdoor Hub)
