The team members of Team International Training, Inc. (ITI) were sure to make their mother’s proud this past Mother’s Day Weekend by bringing home three division titles in two separate matches. Morgan Allen took home the title of ESP Division Champion (third year in a row), while Gary Byerly walked away the CDP Division Champion (High Overall) at the 2011 NC State IDPA Championship, held May 7, 2011 at the Caswell Ranch in Prospect Hill, NC. Meanwhile, in South Carolina, teammate Brandon Wright was dubbed Production Champion at the USPSA South Carolina Section Championship, held May 6, 2011 at the Palmetto Gun Club in Charleston, SC.
“Crafty stages as always, the NC State IDPA Championship included stages wearing glasses with your dominant eye vision blacked out, shooting rearward from a pickup truck cab through plastic lattice all while avoiding a swinging non-threat, and while laying sideways on a suspended porch swing amongst others,” Allen commented. “Mastering the fundamentals through effective training and instruction becomes critical when adapting to novel situations just like these.”
“The twelve stages at the NC State IDPA Championship tested a variety of skills and challenged everyone,” commented Byerly. “This was my first match using my Rudy Project RX glasses and they were as good as advertised! Having top tier equipment allows me to perform at my best both in practice and on match day. Thanks to everyone who helped put the match together. It was top notch all around!”
As Wright left the USPSA South Carolina Section Championship, he was quoted as saying, “This was one of the best organized matches I’ve attended in a while. Linda Chico and crew outdid themselves. All of the shooters felt like superstars; everything was prepared for us so all we had to do was show up and shoot.”
He continued, “There was a fantastic shooter base here this year and the competition was stiff. I’m honored and blessed to have walked away with the Production title.”
Byerly can be seen competing in his upcoming match at the 1911 Single Stack / 2011 USPSA Single Stack Nationals held in Pasa Park, Barry, IL from May 10-13, 2011. Wright’s next competition is the 2011 Virginia Maryland Sectional, held in Fredericksburg, VA on May 19-21, 2011. Allen will next be competing at the Great Lakes Regional IDPA Championship held in Munger, MI from May 20-22, 2011.
