The National Tactical Officers Association (NTOA) Receives DOJ Grant to Support Presidential Executive Order 13688

The National Tactical Officers Association (NTOA), along with the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) and the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA), was awarded a Bureau of Justice Assistance, National Training and Technical Assistance Center Grant to develop general police standards and equipment standards for Presidential Executive Order 13688, which dictates the appropriations of funds and the transference of military equipment to law enforcement agencies. Executive Order 13688 was released by President Barack Obama on Jan. 16, 2015. The standards follow the guidelines developed by the Law Enforcement Working Group in their Recommendations Pursuit to Executive Order 13688 – Federal Support for Local Law Enforcement Acquisition.

The NTOA is mindful of the importance of this equipment in the furtherance of police operations and will ensure that the existing government programs are still in place to assist local and state law enforcement agencies.
