Doylestown, Pa. (Sept. 2016) – The National Tactical Officers Association (NTOA) is pleased to announce the summer edition of The Tactical Edge is now available. Widely considered to be the leading authority in tactical operations information, each issue of The Tactical Edge reaches thousands of law enforcement officers.

Featured in this issue is Ed Allen’s “Getting Engaged: A New Perspective on Team Morale.” In this article, Allen discusses how morale and engagement should be synonymous and how today’s team leaders and commanders must, in addition to their responsibilities of running a team, be the chief morale officer.

Members-only features include Anthony Galante and David Agata’s “Preparing LE Response to Drone Activity” and Phil Hansen’s “Accepting Risk and Responsibility.” Also featured is “The Administration of Naloxone by Police Officers — Antidote to an Epidemic,” by Dr. Don Alves and Charles Bracken. The entire issue is available to new members online by joining NTOA.

The NTOA has also made several articles available online to nonmembers, including “American Armor Foundation: Protecting Those Who Protect and Serve” by Brandon Perkins. The article focuses on what inspired Perkins to start the American Armor Foundation Inc. and its mission to help agencies in the poorest areas of the U.S. purchase vests for their officers through tax-deductible contributions from individuals and businesses that are supportive of this need.

Other items of interest are the director’s message by Mark Lomax; an interview with Major Ed Caneva of the Miami-Dade PD, who developed the nationally recognized Rapid Deployment Force (RDF) concept; and a look at the first-ever NTOA Iron Operator Challenge at the 2016 Mock Prison Riot.

The Tactical Edge is an award-winning publication that has been providing the law enforcement community with cutting edge, lifesaving information from leading experts for more than 30 years. It is published quarterly in February, May, August and November.
