This free, family-friendly event invites shooters to experience the power of the .500 S&W Magnum and 500 Auto Max in Casper, Wyoming, on April 26 – 27, 2025.
Cody, Wyo. (April 2025) – Big Horn Armory (BHA), makers of big-bore firearms, is teaming up with Wyoming Gun Company to host Big Bore Range Day, a free public shooting event that brings serious firepower to the range. Held at Wyoming Gun Company (580 Landmark Dr., Casper, WY) on Saturday, April 26 from 12 p.m. – 5 p.m. and Sunday, April 27 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., the event invites attendees to get hands-on experience with BHA’s most powerful offerings. This includes the Model 89, the SpikeDriver™ Tactical Lever-Action Rifle equipped with the W.T.F. Silencer’s Barron 50 CAL NON-BMG Suppressor, and the AR500, chambered in the hard-hitting .500 S&W Magnum and 500 Auto Max cartridges.
“Big Bore Range Day is all about giving the shooting community a chance to experience what real stopping power feels like,” said Greg Buchel, Owner of Big Horn Armory. “Whether you’re a hunter, tactical shooter, or just curious about big bore firearms, you’ll walk away from this event with a new appreciation for the craftsmanship, performance, and raw power behind every BHA rifle.”
A modern interpretation of the classic American sporting rifle, the Model 89 brings the heritage of the lever-action into the 21st century. Built with 17-4PH matte stainless steel and a rugged Black Walnut stock, this powerhouse rifle is designed to handle the punishing .500 S&W Magnum cartridge while delivering smooth operation, excellent accuracy, and exceptional durability. Ideal for big game hunters and lever-action enthusiasts alike, the Model 89 pays tribute to the legacy of the Model 1886 and 1892 rifles, with a modern twist.
Engineered for power and precision, the SpikeDriver Tactical is a modern lever-action platform built for those who demand performance in every shot. Chambered in .500 S&W Magnum, this rifle delivers blistering velocities and energy levels far beyond what revolvers in the same caliber can offer. With an M-LOK forend, scout scope mount, Skinner rear sight, fiber optic front sight, and a tank-style muzzle brake, the SpikeDriver is equally at home in the field or on the tactical range. Its American Black Walnut stock and stainless-steel construction combine old-school style with next-gen durability.
The AR500 is the most powerful AR-style rifle on the market, purpose-built by BHA to chamber its proprietary 500 Auto Max cartridge—a rimless version of the .500 S&W Magnum. This beast of a rifle delivers truck-stopping energy in a compact, familiar platform. Featuring a match-grade trigger, 18″ barrel with a muzzle brake, and an M-LOK free-float handguard, the AR500 combines power with precision. Whether you are on a hunt for big game or testing your limits at the range, the AR500 is a bold statement in big bore firepower.
Attendees of Big Bore Range Day will have the rare opportunity to shoot these legendary firearms in a safe, supervised environment. Don’t miss your chance to feel the recoil, hear the thunder, and unleash the true power of American-made, big bore rifles.

About Big Horn Armory:
Big Horn Armory was founded in 2008 with the expressed intention of designing a Browning-type lever-action gun chambered in 500 Smith & Wesson Magnum. The Big Horn Armory Model 89, made in America, closely follows the work of John Browning with refinements courtesy of modern metallurgy and machining capabilities. The first rifles began shipping in September of 2012, and since then, BHA has added to their big bore lineup with a Model 90 Carbine in 460 S&W, the Model 90A in 454 Casull, the Model 90B in .45 Colt, the Model 89A in 500 Linebaugh and the Model 89B in .475 Linebaugh. In 2017, Big Horn Armory took a departure from its lever-action series and developed the AR500 Auto Max, the most powerful short-range, semi-auto based on an AR .308 platform.
