GALLS® Vendor, Point Blank’s Paraclete body armor, credited with saving an officer from a fatal stabbing.
Lexington, Ken. On March 5th, Georgetown police received a call in regards to a disturbance at an apartment complex. Officer Michael Johnson was the first officer to arrive on the scene. Witnesses informed the officer that the suspect was throwing canned goods at other residents. Officer Johnson knocked on the suspect’s door. The door immediately opened and the 24-year old suspect stabbed the officer just inches from his heart, before running back into his apartment.
The knife tore through Officer Johnson’s shirt, went through the vest carrier, and was stopped by the armor plate. The suspect eventually gave up and was taken into custody.
Just two days before the incident, the Georgetown officers were issued the vests made by Point Blank and provided by GALLS.
“It sends chills down my spine every time I talk about it because the timing was perfect,” Captain Josh Nash of the Georgetown Police stated in response to the arrival of the armor plates.
