An active and vital military installation at Joint Base San Antonio, Fort Sam Houston has some of the oldest structures on an Army base.

Setting up the 2023 Jeep® Wrangler Willys 4×4 that the USP team is driving on this 6800-mile, 25-military base tour, the team will offer food, drink, promos, giveaways, and more, including a chance to win the very Jeep the USP team is driving on the Bravery Tour. The event is open to all former and current military members and their families

The tour will be interactive, and the military service members will be encouraged to leave their unit’s memorabilia on the Jeep, making it one-of-its-kind by the end of the tour. At the conclusion of the tour, the Jeep will be given away through a sweepstake random drawing to one lucky winner. All active-duty military members, national guard members, reservists, military retirees, military veterans, and dependents of active-duty military members are eligible to enter the sweepstakes. About JBSA Fort Sam Houston:
Lackland AFB was named after Brigadier General Frank D. Lackland. Born in Virginia and studied law, he joined the District of Columbia National Guard and was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in 1905. In 1911 he was commissioned a 2nd Lt. of Infantry in the Regular Army. He was assigned to the 11th Infantry and served in San Antonio, Texas. He was rated as a Command Pilot, Combat Observer, and Technical Observer and rose to the rank of Commanding General of the 1st Wing at March Field, California. He retired in 1942.
Lackland AFB was created when the War Department separated part of Kelly and made it an independent installation, naming it San Antonio Aviation Cadet Center (SAACC). It was officially named after BG Lackland in 1947 to honor the man who originated the idea of an aviation cadet reception and training center at Kelly.

During the 1950’s Lackland gained its first permanent technical training responsibility when the Officer Candidate School implemented the USAF Recruiting Course. Today, Lackland AFB hosts missions that include all the US service branches and personnel from allied nations. The base consists of over 24,000 active-duty personnel, 10,000 DoD employees, and 11,000 contractors, and their families. The units include the 37th Training Wing, the 149th Fighter Wing, the 59th Medical Wing, Air Force Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Agency, the 24th Air Force Wing, the 67th Network Warfare Wing, Cryptologic Systems Group, the National Security Agency, and 70 additional associate units.
