The annual Twin River Friends of NRA Banquet will be held September 22, 2011 at 6 p.m. at the River Front Convention Center on Front Street in downtown New Bern. This family-friendly event brings neighbors together that are passionate about preserving our shooting sports heritage. The banquet offers opportunities to bid on unique items during a silent auction, trying your luck at raffles and game tables or just enjoy the great food. You’ll meet people and volunteers that support youth shooting programs, hunting opportunities, range development, law enforcement and 2nd Amendment education in Eastern North Carolina. Tickets are $45 per person and sponsorship opportunities are also available. Participants do not have to be a member of the National Rifle Association.
Over the past few years the Twin River Friends of NRA have raised funds that have supported the Pamilico High School NJROTC ($3750), the West Craven High School Eagles Hunter Safety Team ($2650), the Craven County 4-H Shooting Sports Program ($2500) and the Jones Senior FFA High School Shooting Team ($1500) just to name a few! Since the inception of the Twin Rivers Friends of NRA committee, over three thousand participants have attended and raised a total of over $300,000.00.
The Friends of NRA fundraising program was established in 1992 to raise funds to support the NRA Foundation, Inc., a 501 (c) (3) tax-exempt organization. The funds support a wide range of firearm-related public interest activities of the National Rifle Association of America and other organizations that defend and foster the Second Amendment rights of all law-abiding Americans. These activities promote firearms and hunting safety education, educate the general public about firearms, and support shooting programs for youth, individuals with disabilities, gun collectors, law enforcement, hunters and competitive shooters. The Friends of NRA events provide participants an opportunity to support the charitable goals of the NRA Foundation and enjoy the camaraderie of other law-abiding gun owners.
