If you missed the NRA Annual Meetings & Exhibits, well… you really missed out! This year it truly was a show for the ages. But don’t worry, I’ll tell you all about what was trending so you too can be in the know.

A recent Gallup poll showed that while gun ownership in general has declined in the United States, gun ownership amoung women has doubled. It’s clear that gun makers have taken notice and at the NRA Show there were lots of guns and rifles on display that were designed specifically with women in mind. Colt definetly had the most unique and stylish of these at the show. Their Colt CRP-18 rifle was specifically designed for competion and is actually used by one of their sponsored shooters. What really sets it apart is the Gun Goddess forend that is put quite simply, remarkable.

Concealed carry is also bigger than it has ever been before. At the NRA Annual Meetings & Exhibits, GLOCK® showed their support of the concealed carry trend by debuting their G43, which is their most highly anticipated gun release in years. In fact, GLOCK® had an entire row dedicated solely to the G43 and every gun was being handled by a curious firearm enthusiast. The new GLOCK® featured a single stack magazine, which is very different from what GLOCK® normally does and made the gun as slim as can be.

Long range precision rifles were also out in force. The most impressive would still have to be the ever popular and mindbogglingly big Barrett .50 Calber. While this gun has been out for quite a while, it is still a sight to behold; the barrel seemed to be bigger than most shotgun barrels.

“The black gun” is alive and well. A “black gun” is, of course, an all black auto or semi-auto with whatever you can fit on the rails on it. There were AR-15’s and AK’s of every shape and size. The most interesting of the “black guns” would have to be the AK’s put out by Kalashnikov USA. Due to the sanctions the U.S. has put on Russia, AK’s will now be made in the USA by Kalashnikov USA. If that’s not cool, I don’t know what cool is.

Well that’s a wrap. What trends did you see at the show? Let us know in the comments below.
