The 50th Anniversary event will be held at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada, Feb. 26 –  Feb 28, 2019.

Reston, Va. (February 2019) – Case Managers from Parabon® NanoLabs will be exhibiting during the 50th Annual California Homicide Investigators Association (CHIA) Training Conference, to be held at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada, Feb. 26  – 28, 2019.  As an extra bonus, Parabon’s Chief Genetic Genealogist, CeCe Moore, will also be at the booth Tuesday 26 February, ready to talk one-on-one with CHIA attendees about genetic genealogy and how Parabon’s services may be able to assist with their investigations.

Since last year’s CHIA conference, Parabon has provided information to law enforcement that has led to the resolution of over 40 of the most violent cases imaginable. Parabon’s Snapshot services include:

Snapshot Genetic Genealogy: This service is the combination of genetic analysis with traditional historical and genealogical research to study family history. For forensic investigators, it can be used to identify remains by tying the DNA to a family with a missing person or to point to the likely identity of a perpetrator.

Snapshot DNA Phenotyping: This service produces predictions of ancestry and appearance from a DNA sample and includes a composite image.  It is ideal for cases where there are no genetic genealogy matches. With an in-depth Snapshot Composite Report and Report Guide, you can focus your investigation and operate more efficiently.

Snapshot Kinship Inference: Unlike traditional forensic DNA methods, which are extremely limited in their ability to determine kinship past parent/child relationship, Snapshot can detect relatedness out to 9th-degree relatives (fourth cousins). If there is any suspicion whatsoever as to whether a family member may be involved in a crime against a victim, this single inexpensive test can be used to include or exclude the victim’s entire biological family, potentially saving months of investigative legwork.

The mission of CHIA is to provide investigative support, training and networking opportunities to homicide investigators, crime scene investigators, prosecutors and death investigation professionals throughout the Western United States. The annual training conference attracts upward of 800 homicide detectives, crime scene investigators, coroner investigators and prosecutors from across the nation. During this three-day event, the participants attend notable case presentations and training seminars. In addition, the conference provides a fertile environment for networking, individual case evaluations and discussions regarding the latest investigative techniques and technologies with some of the top investigators and prosecutors in the country.
