Reston, Va. (February 2019) – Parabon® NanoLabs, a vertically integrated DNA technology company that develops next-generation forensic and therapeutic products, will be exhibiting in Booth 604 at the American Academy of Forensic Sciences (AAFS) 71st Annual Scientific Meeting, to be held at the Baltimore Convention Center in Baltimore, Maryland, Feb. 20 – 22, 2019.  Dr. Ellen McRae Greytak, director of bioinformatics, will deliver a talk in the Criminalistics track entitled “Forensic Genetic Genealogy for Law Enforcement” during Session I “The Next Generation of Sequencing” on Friday, Feb. 22 from 8:30 a.m. to 8:50 a.m.

Parabon representatives will be available at Booth 604 to discuss its suite of Snapshot Advanced DNA Analysis services, including Genetic Genealogy, DNA Phenotyping, and its Kinship Inference service that can determine kinship between DNA samples out to six degrees of relatedness. In 2018 Parabon provided over 30 law enforcement agencies with case-breaking leads for investigations that, on average, had been cold for over 20 years. Since the introduction of its genetic genealogy service in May 2018, the company has seen a solve rate by its agency customers of nearly one case per week.

In addition, Drs. Janet Cady and Mark Wilson will be at Parabon’s Booth 604 to provide demonstrations of the Parabon Fx™ Forensic Analysis Platform, a revolutionary new software solution for forensic analysis of DNA and other large-scale “omics” data. From targeted next-generation sequencing (NGS) for identity matching to whole-genome SNP microarray panels for ancestry and phenotype determination, the Fx platform offers a powerful yet user-friendly environment for importing, storing, analyzing and reporting on complex forensic datasets. Fx is vendor agnostic, allowing raw data to be imported from virtually any forensic instrument, and its extensible plugin architecture enables a wide collection of forensic apps to interoperate seamlessly under a consistent user interface.
