Revision Military, the world leader in combat eye protection solutions, announced the launch of its Batlskin Modular Head Protection System (MHPS) this September. Leading the fight against battlefield injuries, Revision’s Batlskin solution uniquely addresses the soldier’s need for a single, integrated head protection system that’s scalable and adaptable to the multidimensional nature of modern warfare. More specifically, the Batlskin System enables the soldier, for example, to “up armor” from a basic shell, liner and harness in most situations, to a helmet and visor configuration useful during high risk activities such as route clearance, and to a complete helmet, visor and mandible guard system during breaching, cupola, or similar combat operations. This allows the Warfighter to adopt the perfect balance between enhanced protection and the lethality delivered by a lightweight ergonomic combat helmet.
The Front Mount, cornerstone of the Batlskin Head Protection system, is a robust and lightweight universal NVG port that triples as the visor dock and mandible guard attachment point. It weighs less than current-issue NVG mounts, offers greater stability with a 3-point helmet attachment assembly AND provides the mechanism for mounting advanced protective equipment. A simple rail adaptor system allows the attachment of additional components such as flashlights and optical devices to enhance combat capability. A force-wide rollout of the Batlskin Front Mount could singlehandedly convert standard issue helmets from a simple shell structure to a capability enhancing soldier systems platform.
With Front Mount enabled helmets deployed force-wide, each soldier would have the powerful ability to transform his helmet into a full-scale protection system as needed. Batlskin protective Visors and Mandible Guards could be assigned to each unit and/or vehicle, enabling soldiers and their commanders to increase protection levels as the threat rises. For example, Visors could be deployed at checkpoints or during crowd control situations. The Mandible Guard may be paired with a goggle for gunners manning the turret of a vehicle. The full Visor and Mandible Guard System may be engaged during forced entry operations. The Baltskin modular system does not require any new screw holes and the visor and mandible guard can be fitted and removed in seconds with no tools while the helmet is donned; protection on demand and stowed when it’s not.
Beyond enhancing the current shell with protective attachments like the Visor and Mandible Guard, Revision’s Batlskin Head Protection line includes a newly developed, lightweight ballistic Helmet, a high-tech Impact Liner and an ergonomically sophisticated Retention Harness. Deployed together, Revision believes that this system could help significantly reduce the near 30% of battlefield injuries that occur to the head, face and neck. It could also help prevent traumatic brain injury (TBI) – a signature injury of the Iraqand Afghanistanwars.
