Mythbusters is at it again, this time taking on a scene many of you are familiar with: the finale showdown from the hit television show, “Breaking Bad.” In the scene, Walter White shows up at Uncle Jack Welter’s hideout and kills him and his crew with an automated M60 “turret” in the trunk of his car—but is such a contraption really possible? Joined by the show’s well-known producer Vince Gilligan, Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage construct a similar build using supplies one could buy anywhere and setup a reenactment of the scene. With a push of a button, the gun bursts through the side of the vehicle and lands multiple hits on every standing target behind the makeshift wall, leaving Walter without a scratch on the floor (though there appears to have been a few close calls). So what do the Mythbuster guys say? Plausible.

Armed DroneARMED DRONES COMING TO NORTH DAKOTA
Earlier this summer, a Connecticut teenager made the wrong kind of headlines after building a pistol-wielding drone, sparking conversation and hot debate over drones and weapons. However, in North Dakota, new legislation will allow the use of “less than lethal” armed drones by law enforcement—the first passed by any state. Such non-lethal weapons allowed under the law include tear gas, rubber bullets, beanbags, pepper spray and Tasers. The original bill, intended to require police to obtain a search warrant before using a drone to look for evidence, also prohibited weapons aboard such drones, but was added as part of a compromise with bill sponsor, Republican Rick Becker. For now, North Dakota law enforcement can take down targets with drones, but Becker aims to get the law changed when the House returns to session in two years. (via The Daily Beast)

Walmart WALMART DROPS ‘MODERN SPORTING RIFLES’
Unrelated to the fatal shooting of two television journalists earlier in the day, Walmart announced Wednesday that they would no longer sell ‘modern sporting rifles.’ The nation’s largest seller of guns and ammunition, Walmart attributes the decision to lower consumer demand—not politics—despite not making such numbers available to the public. In a June interview with CNN Money, Walmart CEO Douglas McMillon alluded to the change, stating “Our focus in terms of firearms should be hunters and people who shoot sporting clays.” According to company spokesman Kory Lundberg, such rifles were carried at fewer than a third of Walmart’s 4,600 U.S. stores and will be removed within the next two weeks as the stores restock for the fall season.
