Gone are the days of newspapers, magazines and network television. Social media is today’s top source for news, entertainment and information. But with the quick pace of trending topics and 140-character updates, unless you live online, you’re bound to miss something. Luckily for you, that’s my job. The Social Media Reload features the most popular, interesting, entertaining and controversial content in the firearms and outdoors industry from the past week and repackages it into a quick list with a bang. Read on and see what you missed this week.
[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y9TABaYDfzM&] SLOW MOTION BULLET IMPACTSJust a week after releasing his “Inside the 1911” video, a must-watch slow motion clip of a cut-away Wilson Combat pistol, Larry Vickers one-upped himself with another slow motion video. This time, however, the focus is on the targets, not the gun being fired. Shooting everyday household items like fruit, bottled drinks, candles, light bulbs and more, the epic video puts on an explosive display of what happens at the point of impact when shot with a bullet. Our personal favorite is the banana, as the bullet appears to peel the fruit from end-to-end before becoming baby food. The possibilities are endless, what would you shoot in slow motion? Halloween is tomorrow and the firearms community has been busy preparing. Of course, it wouldn’t be Halloween without some good ole’ pumpkin carving. From Hickok45‘s sixth annual guide to “Pumpkin Killing Methods” to Kirsten Joy Weiss‘s precision carving, Iraqveteran8888‘s tips for getting rid of leaves (and pumpkins) to BulletSafe‘s .50 cal. test, guns and pumpkins just go together. What are you waiting for? Grab a costume, a gun and a pumpkin or two and join in the holiday spirit. Sing it with us, “No one man should have all that (fire)power.” (Any Kanye West fans?) That is, unless you’re the well-accomplished 3-gunner Jesse Tischauser armed with a RCI XM2XI Integrated Benelli M2 from XRAIL by RCI. A Benelli M2 shotgun with four rotating magazine tubes, the RCI XM2XI has a total capacity of 26 (25+1) 12-gauge rounds with a 21″ barrel. So what does it cost, you ask? This fun shotgun setup could be yours for a cool price tag of $3,299. Feel free to watch Jesse’s video on repeat while you save up.
