Teammate Morgan Allen Places Third Overall in ESP Division
The 2013 Smith & Wesson IDPA Indoor National Championship, held at the Smith & Wesson Shooting Sports Center in Springfield, MA February 21 – 23, 2013 proved to be a strong 2013 competitive season debut for Team International Training, Inc. (ITI) members Brandon Wright (Team Captain) and Morgan Allen. Over 300 competitors braved the snowy weather to compete in the first major IDPA match of the year.
Brandon Wright won the ESP Division and placed Second Overall for the entire match with a 166.01 match score. Due to this win, Wright has become a National Champion and a Distinguished Master (DM) in IDPA.
“I would like to congratulate my teammate for his performance and to all the division winners at the 2013 Smith & Wesson IDPA Indoor Nationals,” commented Wright. “The match directors and staff went out of their way to make this match one of the more exciting IDPA matches I have ever shot. Out of 12 stages, eight stages had some sort of mover, swinger and / or drop turner on them. As if that does not make the match hard enough, add low-to-no light in the mix and you have a recipe for disaster. Fortunately I was able to stay focused and shoot my match. I am so honored to have been bestowed this new title of Distinguished Master.”
Wright continued, “A big thank you to Safariland Products for coming through with their new IDPA equipment. Bobby McGee of Safariland has developed a brand new “Range Series” holster, belt and magazine pouch that are IDPA legal. These products, along with reliable ammunition from Atlanta Arms and Ammo, allowed me to reach my top potential in this match.”
Morgan Allen placed Third Overall in the ESP Division and Fourth Overall for the entire match with a 182.35 match score.
“This was one of the more technical matches I’ve attended to date,” remarked Morgan Allen. “Combine that with the low-to-no-light stages, the number of moving targets (many that disappeared after presentation), and the disaster factor increased the difficulty significantly. Knowing, through my match preparation training, of when to push and when to back off a little became a critical asset in this match.”
Allen continued, “Congrats to my teammate on his fine performance, as well as to IDPA, Smith & Wesson, Shooting USA and the many others who came together to make this what it has become, a premier event in the competitive shooting sports. A special thanks to my sponsors for helping make my attendance possible.”
