“The Indiana State IDPA Championship was a huge success; a testament to the phenomenal dedication of the match directors and staff,” remarked Torres-Reyes. “The day the SO’s were supposed to shoot torrential rains forced a cease fire for the day due to safety concerns. Undaunted, the entire staff showed up bright and optimistic on the day of the match and flawlessly executed the match for over 120 shooters. They then sacrificed their Sunday to come back and finish up their stages. What an amazing group of volunteers! Special thanks to Joe Tyson for his tremendous leadership throughout the challenges of the event.”
Byerly competed against 27 other competitors in the Single Stack Division at the NC Section Championship (USPSA) and won six of the nine stages.
“The NC Section Championship (USPSA) was the most enjoyable USPSA match I’ve shot this year. Nine stages, lots of challenging targets and some unique prop manipulations made for an exciting day. The capacity restrictions in Single Stack Division made stage breakdown particularly crucial,” commented Byerly. “Numerous partial targets made for some difficult shots. Balancing that against speed is the cornerstone of practical shooting. I shot on a great squad Friday and was able to post a winning score for my Division. I also worked with a great crew on Stage Nine over the weekend and observed some fantastic shooting. Thanks to everyone who did a great job putting this match together.”
Team ITI would like to thank some their sponsors for their support: 5.11 Tactical VA Beach, Virginia, Atlanta Arms and Ammo, Dan Burwell Gunsmithing, FrogLube, G2 Gemini, Laura Burgess Marketing and Rudy Project USA.
Torres-Reyes next competition will be the Indiana Single Stack / Production & Revolver USPSA Championship, held at the Atlanta Conservation Club in Atlanta, IN October 29th through 30th, 2012. Thomas will be competing at the upcoming USPSA Production Nationals and L10 Nationals at the Desert Sportsman in Las Vegas, NV October 13th through 20th, 2012. Byerly, along with Torres-Reyes, can be seen competing at the IDPA Triple Crown, held in Oxford, NC November 10th through 11th, 2012.
