The testing officer, who performed his evaluation of these level III plates in both the TPG BLACK BONZ GRID-HERCULES™ Plate Carrier, as well as in his full-size TAC vest, remarked how “extremely light” the Citadel™ 36 Series were. He evaluated the dual convex shooter’s cut, both front and back.
He continued, “Weighing not even what one older, heavy ceramic plate weighs, [the Citadel™ 36 Series] actually make full TAC gear bearable. The inside face of the plate has about ¼ of soft foam built in under the outside finish. This makes the edges soft and more comfortable if wearing in the stand-alone plate carrier. I wore them around the house and basically forgot they were on, aside from the added bulk…extremely light and comfortable after eight years of 10 lb. ceramic plates!”
Made in the USA, the Citadel™ 36 Series are lightweight hard armor plates made from 100% polyethylene with a polyurea or 1000D Cordura protective cover. It is one of the lightest weight NIJ compliant stand-alone level III plates on the market today.
