Made in the USA, the revolutionary HBAV body armor vest carrier system is constructed using GRID-HERCULES™ engineered material provided by Absecon Mills, Inc. This material is a highly-specialized unique polymer coating applied to an advanced textile fabric specifically designed to enhance physical properties, such as impact, abrasion, heat and flame resistance, as well as tear and tensile strength and is waterproof.
The testing officer located in Montana remarked that during his testing he “found the GRID-HERCULES™ material to be very strong, durable, low-profile and easy-to-use. I would say that it is an improvement over standard MOLLE.”
The second testing office located in Wisconsin agreed that the GRID-HERCULES™ material was “strong and durable.” He also commented that the HBAV is “a very well-built vest that appears will hold up well with time. The vest feels thick and strong, but is lighter than what it appears, making it more comfortable to wear. Based on my observation, the vest is a good platform to work from in the future.”
The HBAV design is based off the SPEAR/BALCS shaped platform and is available with either FAT approved military fragmentation soft armor inserts or NIJ 0101.06 certified level IIIA soft armor inserts. It is designed to hold any of TPG’s new NIJ certified hard armor plates for front and back rifle protection in a variety of shapes, sizes and material configurations.
