American Gunsmithing Institute (AGI), producers of the most authoritative Gunsmithing DVD courses, is pleased to offer gunsmiths and students a Design, Function and Repair: Colt® 1911 class with Master Gunsmith Bob Dunlap. The course, to be held from October 27th through 31st, 2014 in Coquille, Oregon, is open to current AGI Professional Gunsmithing students only. Students must have successfully completed the Handguns section of the course prior to registration.

This AGI instructor-led course consists of approximately 15 hours of lecture and 25 hours of hands on experience. The course content covers all phases of repair of the Colt® type 1911 in .45ACP. It will not discuss any custom work, but will cover function and reliability of the gun, including trigger jobs. With completion of the class, the gun should function with 100% reliability and have a crisp trigger let-off with no hammer follow down.

Students are required to bring a suitable 1911, a hammer, set of punches, screw drivers, stones, eye protection, dial caliper, lubricant, needle files and at least one sharp mill or mill bastard file six inches long or longer (complete list of tools needed provided separately).

Master Gunsmith and Certified Gunsmithing Instructor Bob Dunlap has been a professional gunsmith for over 35 years. Dunlap spent 20 years as the Senior Instructor at Lassen College’s internationally recognized gunsmithing school, all while maintaining a fully staffed gun shop.  In Dunlap’s long illustrious career, he has been personally responsible for the repair of over 250,000 firearms. Truly an expert in the field, he possesses a unique teaching style that enables him to take complex firearms and make them easier for students to understand.
