Social Media Reload

Every week, millions of links, photos and videos are shared on social media from brands and individuals alike. The latest blog series from Laura Burgess Marketing, the Social Media Reload, features the most popular, interesting, entertaining and controversial content in the industry from the past week and repackages it into a quick list with fire power.

Below are three of the top links, photos and videos posted on social media this week.

BRANTLEY GILBERT BACKS THE 2ND AMENDMENT, LITERALLY

I’m not much of a country music fan, but 30-year-old Brantley Gilbert is quickly becoming one of my favorite artists. Earlier this week, Gilbert shared a photo on Instagram of his brand new back tattoos in tribute to the Second Amendment, including the word “Amendment” and excerpt from the Bill of Rights. The new tattoos were an addition to two downward facing 1911 pistols Gilbert had done by the same artist, Carl Grace, two months ago (also shared on Instagram). Gilbert shared the latest photo with the following caption: “I wanted to take my support of the 2nd amendment to another level, so my boy Carl Grace came by the house and hooked me up yesterday!!!” Now that’s one hell of an amen.

Spring is here, the weather is warm and flowers are in bloom. National Champion and performance shooter Kirsten Joy Weiss is back in her latest video with a flower power solution for the tactical gardener. Weiss demonstrates how to replace the standard shot with your favorite flower seeds wrapped in wax paper and spread it across an open field with a single pump. However, what the video fails to capture though is the condition of the seeds after exiting the barrel. If this idea sounds familiar, you might recall a 2013 Indiegogo campaign from a company by the name of Flower Shell. Neither the campaign nor the company exist today (for good reason), but I think we can all agree, gardening would be a lot more fun if shovels were replaced with shotguns.

The Expert Field Medical Badge (EFMB) is a U.S. Army decoration awarded to those who can expertly perform both common solider and medical tasks in a simulated combat environment. Last month, 46 candidates, including Army Veterinarian and Captain Sarah Cudd, earned their EFMB at Fort Dix, NJ after finishing what is said to be one of the most grueling performance courses, a 12 mile ruck march in three hours or less. First uploaded to Facebook by a manager of the EFMB program, the video captures Cudd collapsing just yards away from the finish line, only to have fellow soldiers cheer her on to a stumbling finish with time to spare. The video, which will have you yelling encouragement at your screen, has since garnered more than a million views. (via Task & Purpose)
