By September 24, 2018No Comments

Parabon® will exhibit, present a scientific poster and its Lead Genetic Genealogist, CeCe Moore, will deliver a presentation during ISHI29 in Phoenix, Arizona, Sept. 24 – 27, 2018.

Reston, Va. (September 2018) – Parabon® NanoLabs, a vertically integrated DNA technology company that develops next-generation forensic and therapeutic products, will be exhibiting at Booth 315 during the International Symposium on Human Identification (ISHI29), to be held at the Phoenix Convention Center in Phoenix, Arizona, Sept. 24 – 27, 2018. CeCe Moore, Parabon’s Lead Genetic Genealogist, will present a talk entitled “The Promise and Challenges of Genetic Genealogy: Select Case Studies,” on Tuesday, Sept. 25 at 1:40 p.m. during the symposium. Moore’s session will illustrate a wide range of Genetic Genealogy cases by describing several distinct cases in detail, the challenges that arose during the course of each investigation, and how the case was ultimately resolved. Attendees can also see Parabon’s Scientific Poster #82 “Closing Cases with a Single SNP Array: Integrated Genetic Genealogy, DNA Phenotyping and Kinship Analyses” while at ISHI29.

Parabon representatives will be on hand to discuss its suite of Snapshot® Advanced DNA Analysis services, including DNA Phenotyping, a revolutionary forensic DNA technology that accurately predicts the physical appearance and ancestry of an unknown person from DNA, and its Kinship Inference service that can determine kinship between DNA samples out to six degrees of relatedness. The Snapshot suite of services can aid in generating investigative leads, narrowing suspect lists and identifying unknown remains.

Parabon’s newest service, Genetic Genealogy, is the combination of genetic analysis with traditional historical and genealogical research to study family history. For forensic investigators, it can be used to identify remains by tying the DNA to a family with a missing person or to point to the likely identity of a perpetrator. It has already led to arrests in several high-profile cold cases.

ISHI is the largest annual meeting focused entirely on DNA forensics, providing opportunities to connect with industry leaders, exhibitors in the field and over 900 attendees. The symposium features two and a half days of General Sessions talks featuring industry leaders and emerging technologies. Attendees have access to two scientific poster sessions including over 120 presentations. ISHI also includes an exhibit hall featuring 50+ vendors in the forensic field introducing the latest products from around the world. Finally, for more in-depth training, full and half-day workshops are held before and after the symposium.
